The Challenge

We Make Places is based in The Baltic Triangle and members of our team have a long standing relationship with the area and it’s community.

One of our earliest Provocations was for The Baltic HubSpace

We feel the space should reflect the recent and rapid development of the neighbourhood and provide a flexible use communal space for local residents, business and visitors to come together.

The Baltic Hubspace is a square piece of land at an important intersection of several communities

This is what the site looks like at the moment

The HubSpace will be designed to facilitate a range of formal and informal community activity; creating opportunities for positive interactions between a diverse range of community users – an essential component for creating more cohesive and resilient neighbourhoods.

This will range from greenspace/growing workshops, seasonal markets, outdoor cinemas and (urban sports/ healthy living activities) but most importantly a functional greenspace within the inner city urban environment.

The Benefits

Structures within the Baltic HubSpace site will enable the space to be animated throughout all the seasons.

Ongoing activity programmes will ensure continued community use and provide a tool to facilitate greater awareness of the ethos of the Baltic Triangle as a collaborative and connected neighbourhood finding positive approaches to shaping the development of their community.

The potential to integrate technology within the design can be utilised to generate greater awareness of the Baltic Triangle’s ambition to become a renowned location for creative and digital businesses.

We believe The Baltic HubSpace project has the potential to act as a catalyst for a number of green spaces within the Baltic Triangle and Liverpool One residential areas.
Supporting/Creating/strengthening our neighbourhoods biodiversity and building the foundations we will need to develop urban farming initiatives in the future.
