The Vision
Currently in the city there isn’t an obvious stop over place for young people (prospective students, people coming to gigs, cultural events etc..) There is a youth hostel and budget accommodation available but what there is, isn’t very exciting.
Within the Art Hotel, all rooms would be given a distinct theme and attitude, through a rolling programme of installations and make-overs by local artists and designers (of which there are many). These commissions would provide the hotel a great USP and offer the city’s artists a paid, prestigious platform to exhibit.
The hotel industry is being given a run for its money by AirBNB who are in many cases as affordable as a budget hotel and often with greater comforts than upmarket hotels. This model would create an example to other tiring hotels in the city, inspiring them to innovate in new ways. At the same time it would celebrate Liverpool’s unique creative community.
