Sensory Square is a community-designed garden within the Coliseum retail park in Ellesmere Port

Different, a Liverpool based design studio we work with a lot were appointed by Crown Estates, to involve local young people in the design of the garden, taking them through the process from initial ideas, community engagement, detail design and implementation. Young people from The Quarriers (local youth support service) developed the design of the garden through discussions and interviews with shoppers and retail staff and put forward inspirational ideas to create this distinct oasis. The Quarriers worked with us throughout and got involved in the planting, ready for a formal opening ceremony with Cllr Brian Jones, mayor of Ellesmere Port

The resulting design offers a calm sensory space for shoppers and workers, where they can relax, keep children amused and access a wifi cloud
