Andy is a sculptor designer and maker who works in a wide range of materials and processes, he is interested in the relationship between art and design. His past works include public realm pieces, integrated installations, furniture, film and digital technologies.
For this project, Andy will be tracking down residents and businesses across the community with creative, practical & production skills, harnessing these talents to shape additions in and around the Flyover structure. Celebrating the area’s relationship to the Industrial Revolution and skills like engineering and clock making amongst others.
Buzzing around in Andy’s mind at the moment are the possibilities of working with the concrete structures, greenery and using process that respond and work with the climate to present interventions and installations that offer increased and varied activity and delight on sites around The Flyover.
Knowing that there is rich social history embedded in local communities and passed down the generations, Andy is keen to combine this knowledge and spirit with local talent & skills. He is intentionally keeping his concept open at this stage, allowing local needs, skills and stories to define what emerges.
